I regret to have to tell everyone that my brother Paul will be resigning as MD of the Heatherslaw Light Railway with effect from the end of May for personal reasons. I will continue in my role as Financial Director but will also be responsible for transitioning the business following Paul’s departure.
There’s a lot to do right now but I wanted to take the time out to say thank you to all of our incredible customers and supporters who have contributed to our Crowdfunding campaign and given us a fighting chance of surviving the current crisis. We are continuing to monitor the Government’s timetable for transitioning from lockdown and preparing to run again as soon as it is safe to do so.
I’m optimistic that we can run in compliance with social distancing measures (potentially on a limited service) as we hopefully all get back to normal.
I want to assure everyone that I will be doing everything in my power to ensure that the HLR remains what it always has been, a family and friends business with a long and sustainable future that everyone can enjoy for years to come.
I also want to thank Paul for his dedication and effort over the previous 10 years, I think everyone would agree that the evidence of that dedication is plain to see in the new locomotives and rolling stock and the upgraded track, to name just a few of the many improvements he has driven through during his tenure.
I look forward to seeing all of you again soon.
All the very best to you and your families.
