Our main season has now finished and we are currently closed for 2025.
We will reopen on 30th March 2026.
However, we are delighted to be running our Christmas Specials on 29th and 30th November — we hope to see you then!

Yes, our railway is accessible for wheelchair users. Our train has two wheelchair compartments with additional seats. At Heatherslaw, we have 3 hard-standing disabled parking spaces and a path to the platform (please note the car park is gravel). Our staff will assist in getting wheelchairs onto the platform. While there are no onsite public toilets, disabled toilets are available at the Visitor Centre. At Etal, there is a long uphill gravel path between Etal Station and Etal village. We have no public toilets onsite, but disabled toilets are available in Etal Village.

No, you don't need to book tickets in advance for Heatherslaw Light Railway. We currently don't offer pre-booked tickets. You can conveniently purchase your tickets at Heatherslaw Station before your journey starts. Alternatively, if you are boarding the train from Etal, you can buy your tickets upon arrival at Heatherslaw. For parties of 10 or more, please contact us at info@heatherslawlightrailway.co.uk. We're excited to welcome you aboard for a delightful ride through our scenic routes!

All our tickets are Day Open Returns. You can get off the train and return later the same day. Tickets are valid for one day only.

Yes dogs are allowed and travel free. Please note that dogs should be kept on a short lead whilst on the train to ensure they do not jump out!

Yes, we accept both cash and card payments.
