Our Plan
Augusta Needs You to help restore her to her former glory and return her to service.
Looking to the future, Augusta will require new frames, wheels, axles, side rods, and potentially pistons, cylinders, valves, and a repaint to her original livery.
We also plan to rebuild one of our sheds to create a permanent home and exhibition space for The Lady Augusta, allowing visitors of all ages to see, interact and explore her history and workings.
All of this comes at great cost, which is where you come in.
Any contribution, large or small, will bring us closer to hearing The Lady Augusta steam proudly once again.
Ammount and what can be achived at every milestone

Redesign frames, wheels, and motion work using CAD
£5,000–£15,000
Complete final design and order materials
£15,000–£45,000
Build new frames, wheels, axles, and possibly cylinders and valve chests
£45,000–£50,000
Rebuild The Lady Augusta, run-in testing, and commissioning
£50,000–£54,000
Finish the shed that will become her exhibition and running home, including a full repaint to her original livery

This majestic steam engine has been the beating heart of our heritage railway for decades, delighting visitors young and old alike with her gleaming brass and proud plume of smoke. But time has taken its toll, and she now stands silent, desperately in need of repairs to bring her back to life.
Our dedicated small team of staff and volunteers have worked hard to keep her spirit alive, but the cost of restoration is beyond the means of our railway without your support.
