Bunty
Bunty is our main steam locomotive at the Heatherslaw Light Railway and regularly hauls passenger services between Heatherslaw and Etal. She is a 15-inch gauge 2-6-0 tank-and-tender steam locomotive and has been a familiar sight on the line since entering service in July 2010.
Construction of Bunty was started by Nev Smith at Heatherslaw, making her a locomotive with strong local roots and a close connection to the railway. The build was later completed by Alan Keef, after which she was delivered ready for service.
Since entering traffic, Bunty has become the backbone of our steam operations, reliably handling our longer trains and playing a key role in the continued development of the railway.
